We are seeking a Marketing and Communications Director who is passionate about our mission and skilled in today’s communication tools and strategies. This leader will drive Telos’ marketing and communications efforts, amplifying our message, expanding our reach, and engaging our supporters to grow a vibrant movement for peace.
Key Responsibilities:
As the Marketing and Communications Director, you will be responsible for the following:
- Strategic Leadership:
- Develop and execute a comprehensive marketing and communications strategy that aligns with Telos’ mission and goals.
- Work closely with the Communication and Leadership Teams to craft messaging and narratives that resonate with diverse audiences.
- Content Development:
- Oversee the creation and distribution of compelling content, including promotional, educational, developmental and advocacy communications across all channels, email campaigns, social media, website, blogs, and publications.
- Manage the Telos voice and brand identity, ensuring consistency and impact.
- Write, edit, and approve key communications, including press releases and donor updates.
- Digital Strategy:
- Lead the use of digital tools to grow Telos’ presence and influence, including SEO, social media campaigns, analytics, and emerging technologies.
- Manage the organization’s website, ensuring it remains dynamic, user-friendly, and aligned with our storytelling goals.
- Maximize all available communication channels to increase awareness and participation in Telos programming.
- Team and Stakeholder Collaboration:
- Serve as the primary communications liaison for key stakeholders, including board members, donors, and media.
- Lead and develop a small team of staff, contractors, and partners supporting marketing and communications efforts.
- Measurement and Reporting:
- Track and analyze the effectiveness of communications strategies and campaigns, using data to drive improvements.
- Regularly report to leadership on marketing metrics and progress toward goals.
Qualifications:
We are looking for a creative, driven, and experienced professional who meets the following criteria:
- Commitment to the Mission:
- A deep understanding of and passion for Telos’ mission and values.
- A commitment to and an understanding of Telos’ core areas of expertise.
- Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, journalism, public relations, or a related field. Master’s degree preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in marketing, communications, or public relations.
- A working knowledge of Telos’ subject matters and peacemaking principles.
- Proven Expertise in Today’s Tools:
- Strong proficiency in social media platforms, email marketing software, website CMS, and analytics tools (e.g., Google Analytics).
- Knowledge of SEO, digital advertising, and data-driven marketing strategies.
- Exceptional Communication Skills:
- Outstanding writer, editor, and storyteller with proven attention to detail, craft, and beauty
- Ability to craft compelling messages tailored to diverse audiences.
- Collaborative Leadership:
- Experience managing a team and working cross-functionally.
- Proven track record of utilizing internal and external (contractors) resources to accomplish goals and tasks.
- Location:
- Based in Washington, DC, with some travel required.

Compensation and Benefits:
- Salary Range: $85,000 - $110,000.
