Job Description

The Clinical Director will be responsible for the development, implementation, and oversight of all clinical services provided to survivors of human trafficking in collaboration with the Director of Programs, including trauma-informed/responsive mental health services, lived experience experts professional development, staff clinical supervision/development and external trainings. This position will play a critical role in shaping and enhancing our organization’s impact on the lives of survivors.

Position Status: Full-time/Exempt, 40 hours per week

Reports to: Senior Director of Operations

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

Clinical Programs Development:

  • Research, plan, develop, and implement cutting-edge clinical programs.
  • Oversee and optimize existing clinical programs, ensuring their effectiveness and interdepartmental collaboration.
  • Introduce evidence-based therapeutic modalities to enhance client support.
  • Empower and train staff with evidence-based therapeutic interventions.
  • Stay current with trauma-informed and trauma-responsive best practices for individuals impacted by exploitation.
  • Drive the development of new clinical initiatives to meet evolving client needs.

Clinical Programs Leadership:

  • Attract, develop, motivate, and mentor high-performing team members, fostering their growth and commitment to delivering exceptional services.
  • Maintain transparent cross-functional communication, ensuring seamless program development.
  • Champion a trauma-informed and survivor-centered approach across clinical services.
  • Collaborate with staff to establish systems for consistent, high-quality program management.
  • Promote cross-departmental cohesion and maintain organizational culture during periods of growth.
  • Contribute to budgeting processes and oversee program finances.

Clinical Services Management:

  • Lead a team of clinicians, mental health staff and support staff, providing guidance, supervision, and professional development opportunities.
  • Ensure the provision of individual and group therapy, counseling, and support services.
  • Ensure the provision of individual and group supervision for all program staff by providing leadership on the structure, training schedule, and evaluation of these supervisory processes.
  • Review and assess client progress and treatment plans.

Compliance and Reporting:

  • Oversee data collection efforts, measuring program processes and outcomes.
  • Ensure timely and accurate documentation, complying with agency and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain program records in compliance with local, state, and federal laws.
  • Ensure the accuracy, substance, and timeliness of program monitoring, reports, schedules, and other relevant work products.
  • Monitor and ensure the quality and accuracy of program reports and schedules.
  • Uphold contract compliance with Contract Administrators and relevant laws and regulations.

Assessment + Evaluation:

  • Collaborate with program staff to evaluate clinical program quality and effectiveness, informing long-term and short-term goals.
  • Facilitate external research partnerships, working with local universities to gather insights from individuals impacted by exploitation.

Collaboration and Networking:

  • Collaborate with the executive team to achieve programmatic strategic goals.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Programs to ensure a cohesive client and family support structure.
  • Assist in securing program funding through grant proposals and other submissions.
  • Participate in the planning and implementation of annual and quarterly staff events.
  • Foster partnerships with local and national organizations, governmental agencies, and other service providers to enhance support for survivors.
  • Represent the organization in meetings, conferences, donor meetings, and collaborative efforts related to clinical services.

Team Management + Development:

  • Provide direct supervision for the Assistant Director of Clinical Programs & Clinical Supervisor and Trainer.
  • Provide oversight and guidance for Case Managers, Survivor Advocates, Parent Advocates, Crisis Responders, Foster Family Agency staff and MSW Interns as needed, available 24-7 to solution seek client crises with staff.
  • Provides support regarding clinical questions and risk management.
  • Develop and implement a system to evaluate the clinical skill, experience, and professional development needs of program staff.
  • Instill a sense of accountability among team members by modeling quality first mindset for individual and organizational performance.
  • Support recruiting, hiring, training and orientation of all program staff.
  • Effectively identify and resolve staffing challenges and conflicts.
  • Facilitate and lead regular program staff meetings and other collaborative team meetings.
  • Oversee timecards and expenses, PTO requests, and provide approvals for supervisees.
  • Conduct annual performance evaluations for supervisees.

Agency-Wide Leadership:

  • Work with the leadership team to implement strategic and organizational planning initiatives while balancing program priorities with agency-wide priorities.
  • Collaborate with other departments on decision-making responsibilities and initiating new goal-setting initiatives.
  • Participate in the implementation and enforcement of agency policies.
  • Ensure compliance with agency and funder policies and procedures.
  • Participate and coordinate agency-wide projects within the leadership team.
  • Update and review written materials released (i.e newsletter, social media, training) to the public to ensure that program information properly and accurately reflects the programs and services rendered.
  • Reviews external communications for social media, grants, partners, and other funders to ensure appropriate language and client confidentiality is maintained.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Master’s degree in Social Work (MSW), Licensure: Master Social Work (LCSW) required and maintained for at least 2 years, with the ability to provide supervision for clinical hours to staff, required.
  • Minimum three (3) years of experience in clinical supervision and program management.
  • Minimum three (3) years of experience working with clients in crisis.
  • Minimum five (5) years of experience working with at-risk youth, commercially exploited children and adults or victims of sexual assault.
  • Experience working with youth in foster care and collaborating with a Foster Family Agency to support in the family joining process.
  • Strong supervisory experience with a proven record of leading staff to achieve intended program and organizational outcomes.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and team leadership skills.
  • Show initiative in resolving issues/challenges proactively and identifying opportunities for improvement and accountability.
  • Compassionate, empathetic, and culturally sensitive approach to working with survivors.
  • Solid understanding of budgeting, resourcing, and performance evaluation procedures.
  • Own a registered and insured vehicle with a valid California driver’s license.
  • Completion of a TB test to ensure the safety and well-being of clients and staff.
  • Ability to work evenings, weekends and holidays, as needed.

Preferred Knowledge, Abilities + Skills:

  • Excellent knowledge of standards (e.g. ISO) and regulations for the clinical field.
  • Experience in, and understanding of, county agencies such as law enforcement, DCFS, and the Probation Department.
  • Experience with legal, medical, housing, educational, employment, and social service agencies and resources in the community which may be of use to clients.
  • Knowledge of clinical assessment techniques and evidence-informed practice guidelines.
  • Knowledge of principles, methods, and practices of effective supervision.
  • Knowledge of quality assurance and outcome measurements, data collection methods, and evaluation concepts.
  • Knowledge of contract administration and grant funding.
  • Knowledge of Quality Improvement disciplines and experience with process improvement tools, including but limited to, computer applications.
  • Must have excellent organizational and time management skills. Ability to manage and prioritize various and differing projects, as well as work effectively toward numerous deadlines.
  • Must be able to build strong relationships with all levels of individuals within various agencies, internal staff, advocates, community partners, and other stakeholders.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of domestic violence, sexual assault, trafficking, and child abuse laws and reporting responsibilities and file abuse reports, as needed.
  • Bilingual is a plus.
