About the Role
The Development Operations Officer (DOO) is responsible for developing, implementing and maintaining a robust major gift program. Reporting to the CEO, this role will execute all aspects of the major gift program, including research and identification of prospects; partnering with the CEO in the cultivation and relationship management of the portfolio; proposal development and communications; and ongoing stewardship of donors. While the role is primarily a program manager that facilitates development operations, the right candidate will also have opportunities to engage and manage donor relationships. Success will include the ability to increase the depth and breadth of Prevention Now’s major donor and foundation base.
This role is a full-time, exempt (salaried) position.
Salary Range: $60,000 – $75,000 (A note on salary: Where you fall within the compensation range is based on how you demonstrate the attributes and competencies required for the role. We mostly reserve the upper half of our compensation bands for internal growth.)

Travel: Minimum 20% with possibility for more based on needs of the organization
Areas of Responsibility Could Include:
Program Management & Operations
- Partner with the CEO to design and implement a major gift strategy aligned with Prevention Now’s mission and funding goals.
- Create and manage a funding pipeline that ensures continuous growth of the major donor portfolio and pursues new strategic opportunities.
- Develop and manage the systems, processes and procedures that support the major gift portfolio, including CRM management and gift tracking & reporting consistent with best practices.
- Continuously monitor data to achieve major, recurring and planned giving goals.
Donor Cultivation & Stewardship
- Equip CEO to cultivate, solicit and steward the major donor pipeline, which includes ensuring an average of 40 visits or touch points each month with current and prospective donors.
- Facilitate rhythms for tracking donor priorities & action items, helping to ensure customized, timely communication and proactive follow up.
Prospect Research & Analytics
- Initiate and manage prospect research to identify and qualify new major gift prospects – including individual givers and foundations – using various screening methods.
- Develop donor personas and segmentation strategies to maximize outreach effectiveness.
- Analyze donor and philanthropic data to identify patterns and opportunities for new and increased giving.
Education and Experience:
- 3+ years managing a major gift portfolio. Experience working in the anti-trafficking space and with technology products or research projects, preferred.
- Experience in prospect research and analysis which resulted in successful donor pipeline development.
- Experience building major donor portfolio operations, systems and rhythms to support donor cultivations and stewardship.
- Experience supporting an executive in cultivating and closing major gifts of $10,000+ preferred.
- Proven track record of growing and managing major donor portfolios to meet fundraising targets.
- Familiarity and comfort in a work environment where faith-based organizations and individuals are present and part of the day-to-day programing and operations.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication, presentation, and research skills.
- Demonstrated project management or operational expertise, with meticulous to detail.
- Demonstrated technical experience with workplace and fundraising technology including Microsoft Office Suite and tools such as Notion, Slack and Airtable, as well as CRM systems and prospect research tools.
