The director of MFI support services is responsible for leading a team of functional managers and specialists, strategic initiatives, and special projects on the microfinance team. This role leads a globally dispersed team which serves and supports the operations of the MFI network with a focus on team/capacity building, strategic planning, budgeting, performance analysis, product innovation, marketing, staff and client training, and network management.

Responsibilities


  • Promote and fulfill the mission and vision of HOPE International.
  • MFI Support Services
  • Manage the support services team to serve HOPE managed and HOPE partner MFIs.
  • Coordinate the annual planning and budgeting process with the finance department and lead the strategic planning process for the support services team.
  • Lead coordination between support services, the MFI department, and HOPE’s network of microfinance institutions to promote alignment, good working relationships, and shared goals to further the mission of HOPE International.
  • Support the development and management of multiple product lines to promote holistic impact in the clients HOPE’s MFI network serves (e.g. small and medium enterprise, agricultural finance, housing/shelter finance, digital, etc.).
  • Support the performance analysis function in providing strategic analysis to the MFI department and liaising with multiple departments (MFI operations, finance, technical assistance) to ensure timely and accurate reporting and analysis of MFI global operations.
  • Support MFI client and staff training strategies to ensure effectiveness and scalability.
  • Support MFI marketing strategy and marketing initiatives across the network and champion the client experience and customer service in all MFI operations.
  • MFI Project Management and Strategic Initiatives
  • Support the senior director of microfinance in setting strategy for the department and support MFI leaders in their strategic planning processes.
  • Support the MFI project management function in overseeing the integration of MFIs into the HOPE network and facilitate partnership strategy discussions and on-going relationship building, including new partnership development and expansion efforts.
  • Provide critical project management support on key initiatives, including spiritual integration strategy across the MFI network and other complex and high-visibility projects.
  • Support the senior director of microfinance in department-level reporting to the HOPE Board of Directors and executing special projects and strategic initiatives.
  • People Management and Team Leadership
  • Provide strong management of direct reports.

  • Maintain a climate that emphasizes Christian commitment; attracts, keeps, and motivates top quality staff, and promotes HOPE’s organizational culture.

Qualifications


  • Personal confession of Christian faith and commitment to the mission and vision of HOPE International.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in business, microfinance, international development, economics or related field.
  • Over ten years of financial services experience, particularly in the areas of project management, product development, analysis, and general operations in a matrix organization.
  • Significant leadership and project management experience.
  • Analysis and report writing experience.
  • Self-motivated organizational skills, including effective time management and prioritization of multiple deadlines.
  • Attention to detail, excellent written and verbal communication, planning, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to communicate and collaborate effectively in a matrix structure with employees across the organization, locally and remotely, across cultures, and with external stakeholders.
  • Advanced Microsoft Office Suite skills, including Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Willingness to travel nationally and internationally up to 75 days per year.
  • International experience in the developing world and strong cross-cultural communication skills.
  • Foreign language skills relevant to the HOPE network, preferred.

Because we take a market-based approach to pay, this salary range is specific to US-based employment. Hires made in other countries will have a salary range based on local market factors and this range will be disclosed during the interview process.
