The senior director of savings group programs is responsible for the direction and management of all of HOPE International’s (HOPE) worldwide Christ-centered SG activities. HOPE has a global network of savings group (SG) programs and partners that equip the church to further carry out its mission through establishing SG programs as a ministry in their congregation and community. These programs are delivered through a network of formal partnerships with church denominations as well as missionally-aligned ministry organizations. In total, the scope of the current SG network at HOPE includes 8 HOPE-managed country programs and 20 partners, equipping over 13,370 churches worldwide.

The senior director of savings group programs provides strategic and operational direction and oversight to the continuing execution, development and growth of HOPE’s SG program with existing and new partners worldwide. Additionally, the role is responsible to steward HOPE’s growing portfolio of complementary services, including but not limited to regenerative agriculture training, to better serve these partners into the future.

Responsibilities


  • Promote and fulfill the mission and vision of HOPE International
  • Senior organizational leadership
  • Provide strategic and operational leadership to SG program and staff toward successful execution of SG programs worldwide
  • Model servant leadership towards colleagues and ministry stakeholders
  • Develop and maintain a culture that models Biblical principles and incorporates an intentional and effective Christ-centered witness in all SG programs
  • Actively serve and contribute to HOPE’s overall leadership
  • Program development and delivery
  • Develop long term strategy for programming that the mission of HOPE
  • Oversee the establishment and maintenance of healthy, Christ centered SG program partnerships with mission-aligned church denominations and ministry organizations within the countries where we serve
  • Develop and implement program models consistent with HOPE’s mission, values, and core methodology
  • Collaboratively establish program goals for all savings programs and maintain consistent and timely progress in reaching goals
  • Establish regular monitoring of departmental and program results and implement refinements to increase effectiveness, efficiency, transformational impact and cultural relativity
  • Create and manage to policies and procedures, and ensure strong internal controls and compliance with policies, procedures, local regulations, and laws
  • Maintain and utilize working knowledge of developments and trends in the industry, particularly as it relates to the rapidly-changing role of technology in this industry
  • Commensurate with program and industry evolution, innovate, create, and enhance existing products and services to address partner and member needs to further fulfill HOPE’s mission
  • Oversee the research and evaluation of new program opportunities, and provide direction on continuing strategy development in that regard as well as decision and implementation processes
  • Oversee data collection, reporting, and analysis processes and ensure accurate, clear reporting on program performance
  • Maintain productive and collaborative relationships with other departments in support of the SG program and HOPE’s overall objectives
  • Programs team administration
  • Provide strong, godly management of direct reports
  • Conduct regular performance assessments of relevant staff members
  • Maintain a documented team succession plan and encourage a team culture that fosters holistic staff development and growth
  • Maintain a climate that emphasizes Christian commitment; attracts, keeps, and motivates top quality staff, and promotes HOPE’s organizational culture
  • Propose and direct an SG strategy, in alignment with HOPE's strategic plan, that establishes goals for achievement with all team members
  • Maintain responsibility and oversight for departmental annual budget and quarterly reviews
  • Review monthly financial reports and program metrics and implement corrective actions to achieve objectives
  • Ensure that all SG program funding is disbursed appropriately, timely, and in accordance with contract requirements and donor designations
  • Liaise with marketing team to ensure appropriate and timely program level data and other support to them for carrying out HOPE’s external-facing funding and communications objectives
  • Development / External Relations
  • As requested, serve as spokesperson for HOPE, representing HOPE’s programs and point of view to other organizations and the general public
  • Be openhanded in providing support to churches and ministry organizations requesting information regarding SG programs as a potential tool for their ministry

Qualifications


  • Personal confession of Christian faith and commitment to the mission and vision of HOPE, including a deep personal commitment to and passion for God’s calling to the role of the church in holistic ministry
  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in business, international development, or a related field
  • 10+ years of professional experience with at least 5 of those years in a senior management role; experience in financial services, savings ministry, and/or microenterprise development preferred
  • Demonstrated expertise in strategy development, planning, assessment, and execution
  • Track record of building and managing successful teams including recruitment, development and on-going management
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate others, preferably a global team
  • Demonstrated ability to create organizational and operational systems for effective finance, risk, and partnership management
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills (foreign language skills a plus); strong interpersonal skills
  • International experience (preferably living abroad) and cross-cultural acumen and sensitivity
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and effectively with executives, senior church and ministry leaders, board members, and volunteers

Because we take a market-based approach to pay, this salary range is specific to US-based employment. Hires made in other countries will have a salary range based on local market factors and this range will be disclosed during the interview process.
