Position Summary: As a school driver your role is to provide safe and reliable

transportation for students, ensuring their safety and well-being throughout the journey.

Position Details

● Full Time

● Based in one community, but some travel required

● Contract negotiations and renewals are yearly

● Reports to the Head Teacher

Role Responsibilities

● Transporting student: Safely and punctually transport students to and from

school, following designed routes and schedules provided by the school

● Ensuring safety: Ensuring the safety and well-being of pupils during transportation

by obeying traffic laws, following safe driving practices, and adhering to school

transportation policies

● Vehicle maintenance: Performing routine pre-trip and post-trip inspection of the

vehicle to ensure it is in good working condition, reporting any mechanical issues

or safety concerns .

● Emergency preparedness: Being prepared to respond to emergencies or

accidents by administering first aid if necessary, evacuating students safely, and

contacting emergency services and school officials as needed.

● Communication: Maintaining open and effective communication with school

officials, parents and pupils regarding transportation schedules, changes, and any

issues or concerns that may arise during transportation.

● Student management: Supervising pupils during transportation to ensure their

safety and proper behavior, enforcing school rules and regulations, and

addressing disciplinary issues as needed

● Compliance: Ensuring compliances with all relevant regulations and laws

governing schools and transportation, including obtaining necessary licenses and

certifications

● Route planning: Planning efficient transportation routes, taking into account

factors such as traffic patterns, road condition, and student pickup and drop-off

locations, to ensure timely arrival and departure

Position Qualifications

● Valid driver’s license and emergency vehicle operation course is an added

advantage

● First aid training to provide immediate medical assistance to students in

emergency situations

● Clean driving record with no major traffic violations or accidents

● Knowledge of the traffic laws and routes within the country

● Strong communication skills to effectively interact with students

● Ability to remain calm under pressure

● Ability to work effectively as part of a team
