Position Summary: As a farm manager you will oversee the daily operation and long

term planning of our farm, ensuring efficient production of crops and livestock by

managing personnel, finances, and equipment, while ensuring compliance with

regulations and implementing strategies.

Position Details

● Full time

● Based in Kaberamaido community, but some travel required

● Contract negotiations and renewals are yearly

● Reports to the Community Director

Role Responsibilities

Operational management

● Planning and organizing daily operations such as planting, weeding, harvesting,

and animal care

● Monitoring and maintaining farm equipment, ensuring it is in good working

conditions

Crop and livestock management

● Selecting appropriate crops or livestock based on market demand, soil condition,

and climate

● Implementing strategies for pest and disease control, fertility management, and

crop rotation

● Monitoring animal health, breeding programs, and nutrition requirements

Financial management

● Developing and managing budgets for the farm's operations and capital

expenditures

● Monitoring expenses, revenue, and profitability

● Negotiating prices for sales of produce or livestock

Personnel management

● Hiring, training, and supervising farm workers and seasonal laborers

● Ensuring compliance with labor laws and safety regulations

● Promoting a positive work environment and resolving employee issues

Administrative tasks

● Keeping accurate records of operations, finances and inventory

● Handling administrative duties such as ordering supplies and maintaining

documentation for regulatory compliance

● Giving updates about the performance and future plans of the farm

● Use farm management software for data analysis and decision - making

Market and product development

● Monitoring marketing trends and prices for agricultural products

● Identify new market opportunities and potential customers

● Develop marketing strategies to promote farm products

Risk management

● Assess and mitigate risk related to weather, pests, market fluctuations, and other

factors

● Implement safety protocols to ensure a safe working environment for all farm staff

Community and public relation

● Represent the farm in local community activities and events

● Build positive relationships with neighbors, suppliers, and customers

● Respond to inquiries and resolve issues from stakeholders

Research and development

● Stay informed about advancements in agricultural technology and practices

● Conduct research trials to improve crop yields or livestock production

● Experiment with new crops, variety, or farming methods

Position Qualifications

● Diploma or Certificate in agriculture, crop and animal production, agribusiness, or

any related field

● Previous experience of at least 2 years working in a farm

● Knowledge of agricultural practices

● Ability to create and manage budgets, track expenses, analyze financial reports,

and make strategic decisions

● Skills in hiring, training, and supervising farm staff

● Problem solving skills

● Organizational skills

● Understanding of business trends, pricing strategies, and agriculture regulations
